In 1941, Harold and Rose Slosberg started United Builders Supply Co., Inc. at 16 Mechanic Street in Pawcatuck, Connecticut. Harold’s brother Milton joined them soon after. In 1950 UBS moved from this location to the current location on Oak Street in Westerly, Rhode Island. For over sixty years, United Builders Supply Company, Inc., has been serving contractors, homeowners and industry. Selling quality products, providing excellent service, and building a reputation for integrity are the cornerstones that have made UBS successful for over five decades.

During the 1960’s Harold’s son , A.Michael Slosberg, joined the company as Vice president and in 1975 he took over the company as President and majority owner. Michael continued to expand United Builders Supply beyond the Westerly area and now UBS has four locations. In 1986 our Connecticut locations in Waterford and Niantic were opened and our Richmond, Rhode Island location opened it’s doors in 1994.

UBS has helped many people over the years. Harold helped to finance homes and businesses when local banks would not. Many of these homes and businesses were able to be built solely because Harold loved people and loved to help them. That commitment is still evident today at United Builders Supply. The dedication to personal service is evident in the fact that UBS has customers that have spanned three generations. The company now employs over 200 people and stresses to each new person the need to serve the customer with the basic principles that were instilled by Harold over sixty years ago.
